Several people were wounded in a suspected suicide bomb attack during Friday prayers at an mosque in a police compound in Indonesias West Java province, reports said quoting police.

JAKARTA,  - Member of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives Jazuli Juwaini said the suicide bombing at the Cirebon police station’s mosque last Friday is a tough challenge for the police.

"Not only because it marks another bombing attack in the country but also it happens in Cirebon’s Police Precint Office," he said here on Sunday.

He said the police must immediately analyze the motive behind the bombing and capture the puppet master behind it. Jazuli also called on all parties to hold themselves against prejudice.

"Leave it to the police to solve this incident," he added.

One man was killed in the bombing. He was believed to have detonated the bomb during Friday prayers at the mosque.

Data from Pelabuhan Hospital in Cirebon show among the injured were chief of the Cirebon city police Adj Snr Comr Herukoco, chief of the traffic unit Adj Comr Kurnia, chief of the intelligence unit Adj Comr Singgih and preacher Abas.

The blast was so powerful that it also injured a woman outside the mosque. Most of the victims sustained injuries caused by shrapnels from the blast.

Chief of the Cirebon city police Adj Snr Comr Herukoco suffered wounds on his back. It was believed the perpetrator was seated behind Herukoco before the Friday prayers began.

A muslim figure meanwhile said that the perpetrators of the bombing were old actors. Hazim Muzadi, former chief of the country`s largest Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), said "the perpetrators are old actors. They now have courage to act, to attack publicly."

He said "this proves that terrorism is not identical with Islam because they also attack mosques and security personnel."

In view of that he called on all parties not to put Islam into a corner with various accusations. "I hope negative views addressed to Islam are stopped."
